Today in good news, our volunteer Jay Shaw was recently featured on The Zevely Zone on KFMB-TV CBS 8 in a heartwarming story on the butterfly effect: when seemingly small actions have big impact. Jay's neighbor Dan told him about his volunteer role as a food rescue driver. Inspired, Jay also became a food rescue driver. Jay then told his neighbor Bernie about Feeding San Diego, and Bernie is now a recurring volunteer in our distribution center. One volunteer quickly became three supporters who move our mission forward. Nonprofits rely on our supporters to help spread the word about everything from volunteer roles to events to calls for donations. The Hunger Action Heroes are back at Comic-Con International this week, but truth is—they never left. They're here to stay through the Hunger Action Heroes Unite! comic book and new educational curriculum. Designed for upper elementary and early middle school students, the curriculum helps kids understand hunger and food waste, reduce stigma, and become everyday heroes in their communities. We’re thrilled to highlight Justin as our July Volunteer of the Month — and our very first participant in the Adult Work Experience (AWE) program!
